Well, today not that hidden, but still one of the most popular touristic sites in Croatia and Dalmatia. Located on the island of Biševo, this cave is definitely one of the incredible works of nature.
Among many caves along the steep shores of Biševo Island, the most famous one is the legendary Blue Cave. For thousands of years, sea waves have worked to carve out limestone rocks into one of the most important attractions of the Adriatic. The coat all around this little island is astonishing and full of rocks, caves, bays, and nature creations you will think about and a few months later.
The Blue Cave story starts back in 1884 when local fishermen showed it to the Austrian artist Eugen von Ransonnet-Villez. Thrilled with stunning games of light, surreal color of blue, and the unique atmosphere this pearl of nature has to offer, the artist published an article in Viennese daily, declaring it to the world.
From that time on, Blue Cave became a major tourist attraction, gathering nature lovers, artists, and tourists from around the world.
